Plastic Balls, Thread, Glue, String A group of atoms bonded together, representing the smallest fundamental unit of a chemical compound that can take part in a chemical reaction.
A work in 3 parts, Molecules explores the ever-changing forms of relationships in the communities around us. Inspired by the transitional character of molecules, it can be approached in a non-linear manner where the 3 different permutations illustrate the building or breaking of units. Without an indication of start or end, the audience is left to experience the physical expression of the intermediate, en route to continual synthesis. The white plastic balls donated for this project were salvaged from being discarded, restoring its purpose.
Coming from different batches from School of the Arts, the trio comprising Chelsea, Evan and Sarah met through surprising circumstances in SMU. Given the opportunity to work on a project together, Molecules is the objectification of this artistic endeavour and extension of their passion in the arts.
