SMU Music Interactive Club (SMUMIC) is one of SMU’s premier student clubs that scouts, trains, grooms and manages students with the talent and passion for music, pop singing and songwriting. Members are given opportunities for stage exposure and performances at both campus and external events. The festival ambassador for SMUMIC is Chia De Zhong.
When I’m not hosting, you can find me at:

I feel instantly reFRESH!ed with a cup of:

The first thing that comes to mind about FRESH! is:
De Zhong: Fresh daisies blooming on a gentle grassy slope in the midst of spring.
Tell us why SMU Music Interactive Club is FRESH! to you:
De Zhong: Being in SMU Music Interactive Club has made me more sensitive to literary sights and sounds - i.e. I am able to appreciate more kinds of music, and write poetry etc. It grooms us to be better singers/songwriters and allow us to explore the possibilities of music.
Tell us something interesting about SMU Music Interactive Club:
De Zhong: Unlike other clubs, SMUMIC has no tie-in to a specific music genre. This allows members to explore distinct musical interests. To join, you only need the interest to explore music, even if you do not have prior music background!
What is SMU Music Interactive Club doing for SMU Arts Festival 2016?
De Zhong: SMUMIC will be hosting a songwriting workshop for the arts festival. At the workshop, you can learn to convert your life stories or anything in general into music. It is SMU’s first songwriting workshop! Besides that, you would be able to indulge in an inspiring night of melodies and lyrics in both English and Mandarin. You would be able to pick up useful tips from classics! Enjoy the sweet blend of nostalgia as you weave your life story into a musical voyage.
SMU Music Interactive Club’s songwriting showcase will be held on 14th September at 7pm-10pm at Tonic X.
